Landscape photography in Rondane National Park

Today, I finally show you some new pictures from Norway 😀 Christina and I came back on Saturday from a nearly three weeks trip to Scandinavia, where of course some nature shots were taken again...

For the first time in many years we didn't spend a day at the coast - we liked our short visit to Rondane and Dovre last year so much that we wanted to spend a whole vacation there.

The course of the trip was rather unusual from a photographic point of view. Our first stop led us for 5 days to Sweden and although we explored very beautiful landscapes and had a great time - photographically remained exactly 1 picture from Sweden. On the one hand, the motifs often did not convince us, on the other hand, we had beautiful vacation weather but bad photo weather…

When we finally went to Norway, the time was photographically the exact opposite: already after 48 hours I had a whole blog series together. The higher areas like Rondane and Dovrefjell simply very often have a good wide view, are partly quite rugged and thus varied. In addition, not the dark spruce and pine forests dominate here, but the bright and at this time of year colourful birch trees.

For 8 days we focused on landscape photography in Norway. Then, after the second storm of the week, 90% of the leaves were down and we dealt photographically in the last week rather with the motifs where you can get along without birch trees, for example, with wildlife photography.

My personal highlight was to photograph this great landscape in windless conditions; this was not granted to us last year and this opens a lot of great perspectives, I think I could implement just 5% of them.

In the meantime, we changed hotels once, from Rondane to Dovrefjell - and we found that both starting points had just as many advantages as disadvantages, no matter where you were staying.

I'd like to show you the total of 76 shots in three series: today's first part is about classic landscape photography with wide angle and lots of sky 😉 Almost all of the pictures were taken in Rondane National Park and a handful of pictures in the surrounding municipalities within a radius of about 80 minutes drive.

The second part shows more abstract shots and details of this beautiful landscape, I think next weekend I will be able to show the pictures. And again a few days later there will be the third part - a small series of pictures with some mammals of the north.

I wish you now a lot of fun with this first picture series from Norway 👋
