Finally it worked out - already in 2020 Christina and I wanted to travel the south and north of Norway on a tour in just under 3 weeks, which unfortunately fell through. Now everything fell into place and so today I can tell you about this trip:
First we went to Oslo, from where we explored the Rondane and Dovrefjell National Park. Since we are actually drawn to the sea, we were a little sceptical when planning the trip and planned "just in case" no more than 7 days on site. To say it in advance: you could easily have spent 3 weeks there, we were faszinated by the impressive colours of southern Norway and the many moose encounters, which I will report on in more detail in a separate blog entry.
We didn't manage to see everything we had planned to see - we didn't even make it to the reindeer herds, or to Storulfossen and Snohetta Viewpoint, for example, on our first visit to Southern Norway.
Then we went to Lofoten, where we had a whole 10 days at our appartment. Originally, we had planned to visit Senja, but our accommodation, the weather and the landscapes and animals kept us in Lofoten until the end.
Although we had very mixed weather in the first week of the trip and some classic landscape panoramas were not possible at all, the photographic yield was very good. It is simply an advantage if you also like to photograph nature details and "intimate landscapes" and are not only committed to classic landscape photography.
So now I can show you 5 blog series with 23 pictures each, which I divide up as follows:
1. From Rondane to Dovrefjell
2. Colours and shapes of the country
3. At the coastline
4. The animal world of Norway
5. Wonderful mirror world
To be quite honest: series number 2, 4 and 5 are my personal highlights, but in the other two series I think I can give you some good impressions of the areas. My expectation was to come home with the first 3 series.
Even though I had taken my Nikon 800 PF with me to be on the safe side, I didn't really expect good wildlife shots as our focus was on the landscapes and their details. Therefore, the 4th series is a surprise, just like the 5th series - in which we were able to photograph the fjords and lakes for a few days with absolutely no wind, which you can't really expect in the harsh north.
So in today's first series I show you scenes that were all taken between the two national parks Rondane and Dovrefjell. There was one thing that fascinated us most about the landscape there: the soils! Sounds trivial, but the plants, fungi, and lichens are simply amazing - I had seen some of this in the north as well, but white lichens all the way to the horizon is great.
