For a couple of days, Christina and I traveled to our favorite island in the Netherlands: even though this year's stay only lasted from Thursday to Monday, we had a great time and, most importantly, great and cool weather, which was already not a given this weekend.
After having the best yield from more than 10 years of Texel trips last year, my expectations in terms of nature photography for this short trip were actually quite low. And that's mostly a good thing 😉
This year the island showed how diverse it is: I was able to take seascapes as well as forest shots, abstracts, macros as well as wildlife shots. All lenses I own were used and from all genre of nature photography I was able to bring a handful of images. Look for yourself at the diversity of the landscape, for a North Sea island I think it is really impressive.
A highlight with which I would have least expected: after I already found last year THE bluethroat (see this story), I could finally photograph a bluethroat in best backlight conditions after many years of unsuccessful trying. Most of the time the right angle was missing and you often don't get to "the other side". First pictures of Fitis and bluethroat I had already shown you in my last bird series, today there are still a few on top 😉
I think the series conveys quite well why I like the "crossover nature photography" so much. I wish you now a lot of fun with a first selection of 23 pictures!
