Texel Part 1 - The dune dwellers

In the first two weeks of June we went to Texel in the north of the Netherlands.

About 11 times I have been there for nature photography. Here I learned most of the things in nature photography. Mostly I have spend 4-7 days there in the past years.

Enough experience to know that it takes a bit of luck to bring home a good portfolio - wildlife shots are not easy to plan, although it is of course an advantage to know the good spots already.

That's why I was a little sceptical: I haven't made such a long trip in years without landscape photography in focus, whose motifs can be "worked out" much more easily. My goal was actually only the creation of one wildlife series.

In the end, however, the experience of knowing the island paid off. In addition, there were two newly created areas and one hotspot (Wagejot) was in good condition again after the last years with little activity there.

I was able to take my best pictures of marsh harriers, bluethroats, avocets, pheasants and terns during this journey, which was far more than I expected. Besides, I was able to create a whole landscape series on the side.

So I will show you the following 4 series with 17-20 pictures each:

  1. the dune dwellers
  2. life in “Wagejot”
  3. the landscapes of Texel
  4. the blue king among the songbirds

A certain affinity for the bird world is definitely needed for the following series 😉

Now I wish you a lot of fun and best regards,
Thomas
